Lace lace baby

I'm dedicating today's post to this lace shift dress pictured.  Let me tell you a little story about this particular item.  Back in secondary school we had an event called "trashion", for those of you who are unaware, it basically consists of creating a garment out of well, rubbish.  After rifling through many a box pulling out all sorts of fabrics, bin bags, bottle tops etc. I came across this lace dress which was in absolutely perfect condition!  I couldn't let this item be ripped apart and used on a trashion garment which was ultimately going to be thrown away a week later.  So... I stuffed it in my bag and took it home.  Some may call that stealing, I call it saving.  Anyway, the unfortunate thing about it is that when I tried it on at home, it just did nothing for me!  I couldn't just throw it away after I had taken it from school, so I kept it in the depths of my closet where it became a forgotten item.  However, fast forward a few years and here we are.  After having a wave of creativity, this lace number which once looked bland by itself has become the perfect layering piece; a fun interesting final touch to an otherwise simple sweater and jeans combo.

If you're looking for a moral to this story then here's two.  Firstly, don't throw away any garment which is in good condition!  Give it to a friend, family member, charity shop or even sell it!  Just please don't put in the bin.  Secondly, if you have an item of clothing that you hardly wear because you're struggling to style it up and you can't bring yourself to get rid of it, why not head onto social media like Instagram or Pinterest to see how others have styled up your garment, or... get in touch with me, I'd be more than happy to give you some ideas!
