Double denim the Balmain way

Happy Sunday everyone!  I was super excited to create today's post as I haven't done a catwalk inspired look for a while and it's something, I do really enjoy doing for you all!

We're at that annoying time of the year again, where Spring is merely touching distance away, yet Winter is still very much present and in control.  So, of course, when it came to picking a catwalk season to browse, I was unsure which one to choose.  But, with 2018 very much over, it's fair to say that the fashion season of Autumn/Winter '18 is also over, therefore, it makes sense to look towards the following season, spotting trends and inspiration from the shows of Spring/Summer '19, tweaking my outfits for a transitional and weather appropriate feel.

My first inspired look comes from the Balmain SS19 ready-to-wear collection.  A popular brand on all accounts, Olivier Rousteing's pieces mix fluidity and structure, elegance and boldness, and this collection was no different.  With architectural forms, the collection showcased exaggerated shoulders, futuristic metallic, plenty of white, and my most favourite - denim.  I am a sucker for double denim, so when I spotted denim galore on the Balmain catwalk, I just had to use it as my source of inspiration.  Look 34, in particular, gave me all the feels, the oversized denim coordinate paired with a tight-fitting bodice is the ultimate comfortable yet sexy silhouette.

My version of Look 34 is a little more weather appropriate and to be honest, one I'm really loving.  Sticking with the essentials, I've teamed a super old denim shirt (I'm reworking those old pieces still) with a pair of darker wash wide-legged denim jeans and a nude bralet to create that relaxed and flattering silhouette.  By adding a roll neck sweater underneath, I've added dimension to the outfit whilst also keeping myself cosy.  *Styling tip: roll necks are a perfect and really easy way to layer your outfits during this transitional period! *
Just as Balmain intended, this outfit can easily transition into Spring/Summer, simply remove the sweater altogether, or replace with a light t-shirt underneath, and when the weather really hots up, swap the boots for sandals, easy.  A perfect outfit for all seasons.
